Mrs. Jennifer McMillan Barnes became the proud principal of Lee Virtual School in September of 2022. Mrs. McMillan Barnes has eleven years of experience in the principal role, six years as an assistant principal, and 10 years in the classroom as a math teacher; all in Lee County. Mrs. McMillan Barnes earned a Specialist’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Florida, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from University of South Florida. She prides herself with being a lifelong learner and has a passion for leading in order to help students realize their highest personal potential. On a personal note, Mrs. McMillan Barnes is married, a mother of two, and has a granddaughter. Her family’s experiences have given her a great appreciation for the partnerships between the school and families. This partnership is the key to higher levels of learning for every student. Mrs. McMillan Barnes is eager to engage all stakeholders and provide a supportive, positive learning environment where Lee Virtual students thrive.

Jennifer Edwards is a Fort Myers native, graduating from North Fort Myers High School and then attending the University of Florida and Nova Southeastern University. This is her 28th year in Lee County schools, and she has held positions as a teacher, academic coach, curriculum writer, mathematics supervisor, and assistant principal. This is her 10th year as an assistant principal, and she is excited to continue her journey at Lee Virtual School this year.
