We are so proud of Mrs. Heather Riley and her gifted class for earning this K-5 Everglades Schools Bronze level award! The students studied the Everglades and student ambassadors created a project that they presented to classmates. They shared their knowledge of what the Everglades is and about the animals that live there. They furthermore emphasized the importance of preserving the Everglades.
This is a designation given to schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to Everglades literacy and conservation efforts. We are 1 of 7 schools in Lee County to be recognized for our efforts. Mrs. Riley led the efforts for grades K-5 and will be expanding to 6-8 grades next year. We were awarded bronze distinction and hope to earn silver or gold next year. This was a great deal of work for the teacher and the students who were selected to be student ambassadors. Lee Virtual School may be the only virtual school in the state to be recognized. The award ceremony was held on June 5, 2025. Super proud and thrilled to put our school on the map of schools recognized state and district wide.
