A Letter from Mrs. Baker
We’ve made it to the 4th quarter of the school year! 😊
Here is some general information for seniors that teachers will share when you have your monthly call.
Graduation
All seniors should have completed the survey telling us their plans from which school they wanted to graduate (with which school they want to walk). Please know that it is too late now to make any changes as diplomas have already been ordered. If students did not respond, then we ordered them an LVS diploma. If a student changes their mind and wants to participate in our LVS graduation, then that is fine... they just need to order their cap and gown from www.highschool.herffjones.com. All students who plan on walking in graduation should have already ordered their cap and gown by now. Caps and gowns are delivered to the home (physical) school, not to the student home’s address. We will discuss the pick up information In our upcoming class meeting.
For the ceremony, each senior will only receive TWO tickets. My understanding is that there will be no exceptions. The ceremonies will be live streamed online for those families who cannot or chose not to attend in person. If a student has any question related to their graduation from their home (physical) school, then they need to contact that school's counselor for information. Also, if a senior wants to participate in prom (or any other senior function) at their home (physical) school, then they need to contact administration at that school for permission. Honor cords for LVS seniors will be provided at no fee this year! These cords are for those seniors with a 3.5 GPA or higher. We will also have a special cord for our seniors who earned a 4.0 or higher. All cords will be given to them when they pick up their cap and gowns.
Senior meeting- Monday May 3rd via zoom. (this meeting has concluded)
We will discuss end-of-year dates. There is the May 21st deadline for those students who want to be transferred back to their home (physical) school in time for graduation. We have also planned that May 28th will be the absolute final date for any transfer of any seniors back to their home (physical) school. If transfers are not completed by those dates, then they will not be able to walk with that school at the ceremony. A few other items of interest:
** - The LVS Senior Survey (Class of 2021) must be completed ASAP, please
** - Transcripts: final transcripts will be sent in the summer when all grades/codes are finalized.
** - To request transcripts after that, then please complete the LVS Transcript Request Form
** - Materials: drop off/pick up will most-likely be a drive thru event.
** - Caps and gowns: See information above and we will cover details.
** - Graduation rehearsal information will also be discussed.
** - Scholarships such as Bright Futures will be discussed.
** - Senior photos needed ASAP for students participating in the LVS ceremony.
** - Other information to come as we near our meeting date and we will cover with the class as a whole.
THE FINAL REGULAR SENIOR MEETING
May 24th 1 PM- LVS Senior meeting for graduation (this meeting has concluded)
All seniors should have (hopefully) joined the Google Classroom (the join code is fdxmr6v ). Information and the link to register for senior meeting will be there... and I will try to get a link put on the Homeroom pages.
Testing updates: Any possible "waiving" of state testing information will be coming from the state and district soon. I do not believe it will be understood that any student that hasn’t gotten an FSA or Alg. EOC score will be given a diploma. I would stay away from that topic until we have more information from the State of Florida regarding the decision from our school district. I know it is coming down to the final days, but we, too, are waiting anxiously for this information from the state and from the LCSD. We will be sure to inform you as soon as we know.
This is a bunch of information. If there’s something that you are asking that I haven’t’ addressed please let senior teachers know... and also know that I am here to help.
Thank you!
